Course Terms, Safety Information and Participant Agreement

These terms apply to participants purchasing or accessing The Budding Horse Barber Course and any associated training, live sessions, videos, downloads, assessments or course materials supplied by The Horse Barber®.

Please read this page carefully before purchasing the course.

By purchasing, accessing or participating in the course, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these terms.

The Budding Horse Barber Course provides education and guidance relating to horse clipping, horse preparation, equipment, handling, behaviour, safety and associated professional practices.

The course is based on Melody Hames’ professional knowledge, experience and methods. It is intended to support and develop your knowledge but does not guarantee that every method demonstrated will be appropriate for every horse, person or situation.

Participation in the course does not make you an employee, agent, representative, franchisee or business partner of The Horse Barber®.

Horses are large, powerful and potentially unpredictable animals. Horse handling and clipping carry inherent risks, including the possibility of injury to the horse, handler, clipper or other people nearby.

Clippers, blades, electrical equipment, extension leads and other clipping tools can also cause injury, burns, electric shock, equipment damage or other harm when used incorrectly, carelessly or in unsuitable conditions.

By participating in the course, you acknowledge these risks and agree that you remain responsible for deciding whether it is safe and appropriate to apply any information or technique demonstrated.

You agree that you will:

• assess the horse, environment, equipment and circumstances before clipping;
• work within your own level of experience and competence;
• use suitable, properly maintained equipment;
• follow the equipment manufacturer’s safety instructions;
• use appropriate personal protective equipment where necessary;
• ensure that children, animals and unnecessary bystanders are kept away from the clipping area;
• stop clipping if the horse becomes distressed or if continuing would be unsafe;
• seek appropriate professional assistance where a situation is beyond your experience;
• prioritise the welfare of the horse at all times.

You must not attempt to continue clipping simply because a particular method or technique has been demonstrated within the course.

Behavioural difficulties during clipping may be connected to pain, illness, previous experiences, fear, unsuitable equipment or environmental factors.

The course does not replace examination, diagnosis or treatment by a veterinary surgeon or another appropriately qualified professional.

You should consult a veterinary surgeon where a horse:

• appears injured, unwell or in pain;
• demonstrates a sudden or unexplained behavioural change;
• presents a significant safety concern;
• may require veterinary sedation;
• has a medical or physical condition that could affect clipping.

Only a veterinary surgeon may prescribe or administer veterinary sedation where required by law. Course participants must not use medication or sedation outside the instructions of the attending veterinary surgeon.

Every horse and participant is different. Results depend on factors including the horse’s health, temperament, previous experiences, preparation, environment and the participant’s skill and consistency.

The Horse Barber® does not guarantee that:

• a horse will accept clipping;
• a behavioural problem will be resolved;
• a participant will achieve a particular clipping result;
• a participant will obtain employment, clients, income or business success;
• completion of the course will satisfy the requirements of an employer, insurer, professional body or other organisation.

You remain responsible for your own actions, decisions and use of the information provided through the course.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Horse Barber® will not be responsible for losses, injury, property damage, equipment damage or other consequences resulting from:

• failing to follow the safety guidance provided;
• applying a technique in unsuitable circumstances;
• working beyond your competence or experience;
• using faulty, unsuitable or poorly maintained equipment;
• ignoring signs of pain, fear, distress or unsafe behaviour;
• failing to obtain veterinary or other professional assistance where appropriate;
• unauthorised alteration, misuse or sharing of course information.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

Any guidance provided during live calls, question-and-answer sessions or one-to-one assessments is based on the information available to Melody Hames at the time.

You are responsible for providing complete and accurate information about the horse, equipment, environment and circumstances.

Remote guidance cannot provide the same assessment as observing the horse and situation in person. You must stop and seek appropriate in-person assistance where the circumstances cannot be assessed safely online.

Course access is provided only to the person who purchased the course unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.

Your login details, course links, videos, recordings, downloads and private-group content must not be shared with another person.

The Horse Barber® may suspend or withdraw access where there is reasonable evidence of:

• unauthorised account sharing;
• copying or distributing course content;
• abusive or unsafe conduct;
• harassment of another participant;
• misuse of the course or community;
• a serious breach of these terms.

All course videos, photographs, demonstrations, written content, worksheets, PDFs, graphics, templates, recordings, course names and teaching materials are owned by or licensed to The Horse Barber®.

Purchasing the course gives you a limited, personal, non-transferable right to access and use the materials for your own learning.

You must not, without prior written permission:

• copy, reproduce or republish course content;
• record live sessions;
• share your course access with another person;
• distribute course downloads;
• upload course materials to social media or another platform;
• sell, license or commercially exploit the materials;
• use the materials to create or deliver your own training course;
• remove The Horse Barber® branding or copyright notices;
• present Melody Hames’ work, methods or materials as your own.

The Horse Barber® name and branding must not be used in a way that suggests endorsement, certification, partnership or affiliation without written permission.

Any certificate issued confirms participation or completion of the specified course requirements.

It does not constitute a veterinary, academic or nationally regulated professional qualification unless expressly stated otherwise.

A certificate does not remove the participant’s responsibility to work safely, obtain appropriate insurance and comply with any legal or professional requirements applying to their work.

Participants intending to offer paid horse-clipping services are responsible for obtaining suitable insurance before working with clients or their horses.

You are also responsible for checking any legal, tax, business, health and safety or professional requirements that apply to your circumstances.

The price, payment arrangement, course dates, included materials and access period will be displayed on the relevant sales or checkout page.

Your cancellation and refund rights will depend on the nature of the course, when access begins and whether live teaching, digital content or both have already been supplied.

Nothing in these terms removes your statutory rights.

Where you request immediate access to digital course content during a statutory cancellation period, you may be asked to expressly consent to the supply beginning immediately and acknowledge how that may affect your cancellation rights.

Any additional refund policy displayed on the course sales page or checkout page forms part of these terms.

The Horse Barber® may make reasonable changes to course dates, session times, delivery arrangements or materials where necessary.

Where a live session must be rescheduled, reasonable steps will be taken to provide a replacement session, recording or suitable alternative.

Any changes will not materially reduce the overall course purchased without an appropriate remedy being offered.

Participants must communicate respectfully with Melody Hames, guest contributors and other course members.

Discriminatory, abusive, threatening, harassing or deliberately disruptive behaviour will not be accepted and may result in removal from live sessions or course communities

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom or another country, you may also benefit from mandatory consumer protections that apply in your place of residence.
